Eviction is the word of the day in New Orleans.
Many landlords have taken to throwing tenants personal belonings
on the sidewalk after an eviction notice has been tacked
on their door for 5 days. Under normal conditions 5 days
seems a little harsh if there is a lease involved; but in
post Katrina New Orleans 5 days don't mean shit.
The most optimistic number I've heard for
the current population of the city is 20%. that means 80%
of the city will be unaware of the eviction notice going
up on their door. Why aren't they home yet, you may wonder...
Well, there are still vast sections of the city that do
not have electric even though the structures received minimal
damage. Many people were too poor to leave on their own;
how do expect them to get back when they're not provided
transportation. Much of the rebuilding effort seems to be
coming from outside contractors employing transient non
native labor and immigrent workers, so the job and housing
issues are relevant to those accustomed to living pay check
to pay check.
The Rainbow Emergency Management Assembly
gathered in Waveland Missahippie within days of the hurricane
disaster, to feed people. They have receieved nothing but
love and support from FEMA, Red Cross, numerous Church groups
and Hancock County. It is said that before Katrina hippies
would refer to Mississippi as MissAHippie because a hippie
could easily go "missing" in Mississippi. Now
Missahippie has a whole new meaning. The story of Waveland
is that of people putting aside petty differences to do
what's right and needed by our community of man.
This feabile attempt to tell an amazing tale of cross cultural
volunteerism features: Vermin Supreme, Dirty Momma, Heather
Bee, Pete Jones, Ben Cauldwell, Doc Stone, Organic Valley,
the residents of Waveland Mississippi ... and Flower
The New Waveland Cafe is now closed. The parade was the
official end of the facility, which was disbanded because
the community now has several restraunts and stores open.
A splinter group is setting up in St Bernards Parish, New
Orleans.

I met these 3 men along the coast west of
Waveland Mississippi. This video is unedited, the only thing
I would have liked to remove is the plug for an american
auto manufacturer. If you work for that company I can contact
them for your commercial if you're willing to Pay Da Man.
During the winter of 2003 I embarked on a roadtrip to cover
the Dennis Kucinich for President campaign, on my dime,
for the now defunct KucinichWatch.com. Shortly before the
California Primaries I returned home, bought a van, gave
up my apartment in LA and hit the road again.. to document
end of the facade of democracy. This video deals with the
logistics as well as the motivation behind this commitment.
This 5 minute video was
created for the "My Gig" category @ Current.TV and was defeated
by slick, pro, fluff, crap. Al's channel is not the revolutioanry
vehicle he would like to make it out to be. Current TV will
not be getting my footage. Liberals and invalids may possibly
enjoy the programming at Current TV.

The corporations recognize
that paying for healthcare in an environment that is geared
solely to profiting from sick people will bankrupt them sending
all of your and their money to the Pharmaceutical companies.
So, of course they don't want to be responsible for paying
for the healthcare of their employees. That's why everytime
a major labor contract comes up for negotiations the companies
have been taking the offensive by demanding unions to accept
LESS healthcare benefits. The best solution for both would
be Universal
Healthcare but that requires employers and heathcare recipients
to take on the Pharmaceutical Lobby ...

People of Dissent of all ages took to the streets
of Philadelphia for several permitted and unpermitted actions
during the 4 day BioTechnology Conference.
Philadelphia has a different kind of Cop called
a Civil Affairs Officer; they wear sport coats and Arm Bands
instead of the regular blue uniform. I asked one of them what
the deal with the arm bands was and He Said: "I'm The
Police." When pressed further he stated that the Arm
Band guys were there specifically to ensure that people got
their 1st ammendmant rights. A couple days later I saw a gang
of these Civil Affairs Officers charging into a crowd of unsuspecting
innocent bystanders; swinging 2 fisted, kicking, shoving peacfully
gathered people .. and one of them had a heart attack and
died.
And the 1st Ammendmant? Well, it died too as
1 BioTech dissenter was actually arrested for violating it.
(the right to free speech) ... Apparently he was having a
silent vigil.
Also during the melee an Officer of the Law
grabbed my old Digital 8 camera from the hands of it's operator,
threw it to the ground and kicked it. It died too.

As part of National Go Skateboarding Day hundreds
of skateboarders (with a permit for their event) shredded
the streets of Philly on the same day that hundreds of BioTech
Activists were also taking their message to the streets. A
little behind the scenes coordination lead to the skateboaders
joining in with an unpermitted march on the the convention
center and a stand off with the cops at Love Park. Love Park
is a rountinely skated public park in the center of Philly
and was an "official" stop on the skateboarders
planned route for the day. After several speakers fired up
the crowd by showing that when dealing with a Police State
environment All People Will Be Repressd Equally... that skateboarding
is not a crime... that we were all being denied acess to Our
Public Space... the skaterboarders & activists together
busted through the police line took some manhandling and a
club to the head or 2 ... but they took the park.
Later, police used undercover snatch squads
to arrest some people; but the park remained open and the
police retreated to just blocking the fountain.. because some
folks were hot & sweaty enough to get in it.

I listened to Marly Hornik, a GMO activist singer
songwriter, perform twice at the BioTech events and cried
both times. The song at the end of this video seems to speak
to my own self doubts and constant self evaluation. It's about
living your lifes path, about the path with an uncertain future,
about courage and the lack there of and unavoidable choices
... at least that's what it means to me.
This was filmed at the Really Really Free Market...
it's really free because people really give stuff away. Food

what they do.. feed hungry people for free off the waste of
corporate glutiny. I gave out about 20 Fluxview News DVDs.

Percy Schmeiser has been growing canola for
40 years. He's been experimenting, developing his own varieties,
using his own seed. Then Monsanto, the giant multinational
agro-chemical company that is at the forefront of developing
genetically modified foods, accused him of patent infringement
and demanded restitution for its seeds. They stole his plants,
seeds & research because of cross pollenation with GMO plants
that other people had planted within pollenaton range. If
GMO's touch your crops... Monsanto owns your crop and will
sue you. Pollenation is not containable. "I never put those
plants on my land," says Schmeiser. "The question is, where
do Monsanto's rights end and mine begin?"
Percy gives a full account
of the specific alegations
and breaks down the facts about GMO's in this 13 minute video.

This clip is coming out
late because it was to be included in the Glass Bead Collective's

This! This footage may or may not be included in the post election
cut of that documentary. Think of this as a directors cut.
On August 29th over a 1/2 million people took to the streets of
New York to protest the Republican agenda at a UFPJ
sponsored March that ended at Union Square where the protestors
were told they would have to disburse, so they did. Disburse is
not the same as "go home". 1/2 million people disbursed
throughout the city. Some went to Central
Park even though they were told that was not an acceptable place
for "protestors" to disburse to. Those
defiant Central Parkers enjoyed a nice day in the park; while
many of those who disbursed compliantly ... to other parts of the
city, were arrested unjustly... pre-emptively ... Mini Marches weaved
themselves through Mid
Town Manhattan in hopes of running across some Republican Delagates
to communicate their displeasure to. Times
Square was the focal point of Mouse
Block, Kissing Queers and Anti-Authoritarian affinity groups
and for several hours became a make shift detention facility as
Police fenced in hundreds of people. Most
ended up @ pier 57. Meanwhile, bike
riders were being attacked by unmarked scooter Pigs and independent
media and medics were being taken off the street for 20 - 40 hours.
