The Occupy DC camps were both given notice to comply with anti Camping laws by noon Monday 1-30-12 or face enforcement of those laws. The Occupy Freedom Plaza camp openly agreed to comply while the McPherson Square camp consolidated their tents under an enormous tarp stretched over the Square's statue of McPherson and awaited the Park Police's response. The Police did a couple of walk through during the day but made no attempt at enforcing any laws because several hundred additional supporters and media peoople descended on the camp.
The Tent Monster and Reverend Graylan Hagler of the Occupy Faith Ministries came out to support the camp also.
This features an extensive interview with Christy Covington from the PR office of the Forest Service. I shot very little video at the Rainbow Gathering, it was glorious. I'll write more about it later.
This starts off with a bike ride through the French Quarter. Then NOmadjik Media Bus travels from Frenchmen St. New Orleans to the French Broad River Hot Springs North Carolina. In route I stop off in Tuscaloosa Alabama with donated supplies for the tornado disaster zone. I hook up with John Wathen who gives the run down on the enviro-friendly tactics he's pushing to use in Hurricane Creek, which happens to have been 1 of the most bio diverse areas on the planet. If you're looking for a volunteer opportunity why not help him ensure that it remains 1 of the most bio diverse areas on the planet?
If you missed the previous RIP NOmadjik Bus post, here's the back story on this. Part#1, Part#2
In classic Monty Python style, the bus just raised it's fist and cried "but I''m not dead yet!"
Shortly after being told the estimate was 5,768 dollars; which was a death blow to the bus, no brainer... I got another message from the shop but since I was downing beers I turned my phone off for awhile.
The NEW Message: They were real sorry, someone else's estimate had accidentally been stapled to my ticket.
The bus only needs a new oil cooler assembly, related items and services.
The Actual Estimate is $1,575.00 Now, while this estimate is at least feasable; it's not like I got an extra dime laying around. I'll be focusing on paying jobs for awhile. If you have a paying job for a webmaster or video producer, I'm all ears.
If you feel compelled to donate for the cause I'd love you forever and will send you a DVD of anything I've produced, just name it. However, I need to say that the bus will No Longer be traveling back an forth across the country All The F'n Time as it has been for the last 3 years. The remainder of it's life will consist mostly of regional use for off grid film screenings, music and guerilla 1st ammendment covered activist video projections (like this on a smaller scale).
Sista Otis, Tony Sferlazza and an unknow harmonica player light up the
stage at Harrisburg Municiple Arts Complex HMAC. This is an off the cuff
inspired version of Along The Watch Tower.
My first baseball game in 30 yrs. It was fun but I keep wondering how the people around me were able to afford to drop so much money for the experience. Maybe that's why there were so few in the stands.
Chillin' in Dirtneckia. A sovereign country (not) nestled in the heart of Charlotte, NC that is striving to become an alternative energy cooperative. More to come.
