Resistance Grows
Is it my imagination, or is there definitely a
plague of stress and depression running rampant since the passage
of Patriot Act II? It’s an emotional tide, the likes of
which we haven’t seen since the November third blues.
It wouldn’t surprise me, and if it does
exist it’s justified, because what we’re talking
about is a piece of legal tyranny that people raised in America
previously thought was impossible here. I won’t recount
the legislative horrors that have unfolded, because I’m
sure you’ve heard more about it than you want to, and
I’m also sure you’re smart enough to know how it
might change the world.
What I would like to instead remind you of, is
that this is just another step in both directions. Like the
two sides of an equation, or the journey of a pendulum, their
greater oppression will always be met with greater resistance.
This can be guaranteed, because this is what has always happened
in the past, and it’s exactly what’s happening now.
No, we did not succeed in getting rid of Bush,
by any method, and so far, no one’s been hanged for the
crimes of 9-11. We did not end the war, save the planet, or
prevent the police state, but although these milestones of our
imagination haven’t been reached, we have been incredibly
successful elsewhere. What we’ve done is divide this country,
and that’s exactly what was needed to be done. By educating
people, we’ve forced them to make a simple decision between
good and evil, and that process has created a continually growing
army that no fascist dictator can ever hope to conquer.
And although our ultimate goals might seem as
distant as when we began, now that the troops have been mustered,
our goals are within reach. The milestones we’ve passed
aren’t imaginary, but they’re plainly visible in
the quarter-million people who protested in New York City, and
in the signs of the California freeway bloggers. You can see
them in the vote fraud volunteers, the government whistle blowers,
and you can see it most plainly in the emergence of an alternative
news media. Our success is measured by the number of people
who are resisting this government, who weren’t doing so
a year
ago.
For more tangible data, one only needs to look
at the declining Nielsen ratings and circulation numbers of
mainstream news outlets. Millions of people are starting to
wake up to the fact that they’ve been lied to, and internet
news is waking them up on the wrong side of the bed. Hard times
and government lies are causing millions of people to become
angry. The resistance needs you to help educate them, to insure
their anger is properly directed toward the real cause of our
problems, instead of imaginary enemies, and distant countries
that have never harmed us.
On September 11, 2001, most Americans wept. Within
an hour, they hoisted Ol’ Glory and yelled "let’s
kill the bastards." A small handful said "no,"
and they explained their reasons. Three years later, millions
are saying "no," and they too are explaining their
reasons. Tomorrow, the tyrants will be powerless. We only need
to expose them, and we’ve been doing a good job of it.
Paul Wellstone, Gary Webb and several others have
recently made the supreme sacrifice in the battle for truth,
justice, and freedom, and millions have made that sacrifice
in the past. All they want to know is that their work wasn’t
in vain, and that someone else will continue it. No American
has the right to let them down, and Americans will only suffer
if they do.
As the Iraqi resistance fighters die in their
struggle against the American occupation, remember in shame
that they’re dying in a fight that belongs to you. They’re
fighting against the American military because the American
government has become corrupt and tyrannical, and that fight
happens to be the duty of American citizens. If you want to
support freedom and democracy, support the Iraqi resistance
by bringing their battle back home where it belongs, so the
innocent people of that nation might finally escape the torture
we’re inflicting upon them.
Educate your neighbors, and they will join our
battle. Take to the streets in protest, and sleeping citizens
will ask "why?" Expose the truth of 9-11, and your
freedom will be restored. I’ll see you at the next protest
rally, and if it becomes necessary, I’ll be by your side
in battle. You’re not dead yet, so keep fighting. There
are no other options. -
